The Marion County School District is hosting its annual event to help families learn about magnet schools and career academies available to local students.
The annual School Choice and Community Resource Expo will be held at the World Equestrian Center (1750 NW 80 Avenue, Ocala) on Monday, November 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The event is free to attend and will offer families a chance to engage with faculty and students from 20 magnet schools and career academies. Those institutions will present educational options available at every grade level in MCPS.
Additionally, community resource groups will offer support, distribute materials, and answer questions at the event.
The event will be held within Expo Center 2, which is located on the back side of WEC and offers easy public access and parking.
According to MCPS, the application window to apply for school choice, magnet and career academy options opens the same day and remains open through January 31, 2026.
To apply for a magnet program or career academy, select the “School Choice” through the district’s website, then select the best option.
Parents/families must provide their own transportation if accepted into school choice programs because the district does not provide transportation for out-of-area placements.
