To the Editor:

I’m a Big lots and a Rose’s fan. The new reopened Big Lots are a bit underwhelming. However, in their defense, I’m noticing this in other retail companies as well.

With the current (lack of) free trade environment, smaller companies are having trouble getting merchandise.

If you’re an exporter, are you going to service Walmart or a smaller company (Bealls, BJ’s, Belk, Rose’s, or Big Lots)?

The Walmarts of the world will survive any trade war that Washington can cook up. As for everyone else, stay tuned.
