An annual golf cart parade in Ocala raised over $11,000 to benefit foster care children in Marion County.

The seventh annual Christmas Golf Cart Parade brought more than just holiday lights to the Historic District earlier this month, generating $11,046.13 to benefit The Fostering Foundation.

Led by Ocala Main Street and started by Tim Bascom, who runs a local Allstate Insurance agency, the agencies shared the news following the December 6 event, stating they were honored to present the check to the local nonprofit.

The funds were generated through the participation and support of the community during the parade, which wound its way along Southeast 5th Street and through downtown Ocala.

According to the organization, every dollar raised will stay locally to support and empower children and families within the foster care system. Organizers praised the community for their involvement, thanking those who decorated carts, made donations, and cheered from the sidelines for helping make the donation possible.

The event featured a pre-parade tailgate at City Hall with food trucks and float judging before the procession began. Residents gathered at Walker Park, Scotty Andrews Park, and the Historic Downtown Square to watch the festive display, which has become a holiday staple in the city’s historic district.

Based in Marion County, The Fostering Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap between foster children, caregivers, and the community. With a focus on providing normalcy and individualized attention, the group works to help children navigate challenging circumstances while actively recruiting more loving foster homes within the area.
