A Marion County husband has been arrested on a domestic battery charge after he allegedly struck his wife in the face during an argument over his infidelity, leaving her bruised and bloodied.
On Monday, January 19, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived at a local residence after receiving reports of a physical altercation involving a married couple. The female victim advised that her husband, 60-year-old Patrick David Burns, “hit (her) head several times” and “caused bleeding and injury,” according to the arrest report.
The victim told the deputy that she was sitting on the couch and watching television with her husband, Burns, when they began arguing about his alleged infidelity. During that verbal altercation, Burns allegedly stood up and struck the victim’s head three times.
According to the victim’s statement, Burns then pushed her as she moved towards the kitchen, and she had to grab onto a counter to avoid falling.
The report stated that the victim had “a noticeable bruise and cut over her left eye.” In addition, a “large amount of blood” was observed on the left side of her face, and the blood was “running down her neck.”
The deputy noted that the victim had multiple stitches over her left eye, and the area around that eye was swollen and bruised. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where several doctors informed her that there was “the possibility of further complications to her eye,” according to the report.
Burns was placed under arrest and booked into Marion County Jail. He is being charged with one count of felony domestic battery.
As of Thursday, January 22, a booking photo of Burns is not yet available.
