The new Walmart Neighborhood Market along Maricamp Road is officially open for business, offering a streamlined shopping experience for residents in southeast Ocala.
On Wednesday, the new grocery store opened its doors at 3535 SE Maricamp Road, just days after the facility’s gas station opened for business.
The day opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and words by several local dignitaries, including Ocala Mayor Ben Marciano and Marion County Commissioner Matt McClain.
Hundreds of local residents were in attendance to get a first glimpse of the massive redevelopment at the Saddleback Square Shopping Center.
Hours after the building officially opened, Florida Gators legend Tim Tebow made an appearance at the site to greet fans and shoppers.

The fuel center is scheduled to operate daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Members receive a 10% discount on gasoline, according to Walmart.
Inside of the store, photos highlight the distinct features of the “Neighborhood Market” format. Unlike the retailer’s massive Supercenters, the new location and its layout focuses on convenience.
The store’s modern design elements and layout provide for quicker shopping experiences. From the deli and pharmacy, to the Scan & Go exit lane, the new Walmart is rife with the same products and value expected within the chain’s hallmark big box retail stores.
The new Walmart Neighborhood Market on Maricamp Road replaces a former Winn-Dixie that had stood vacant on the property for nearly a decade.
Ocala-News.com first reported Walmart’s plans to build the new location in August 2024. The following month, the developer received a key approval from city officials.
The former Winn-Dixie at the site was demolished a short time thereafter. Last August, the Walmart was one of several properties sold in a $51 million acquisition.
In December, the location announced that it would be opening this week. A few weeks after that, Ocala-News.com learned that Tebow would be in attendance for the grand opening.
