A 45-year-old Ocala man, who was convicted in December of possessing numerous files that depicted the sexual abuse of children, will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

On Wednesday morning, a judge sentenced Michael Alton McMasters to 20 life sentences in the Florida Department of Corrections. Back on December 12, 2025, jurors found McMasters guilty of 20 felony counts of possession of child pornography.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrest report states that in January of 2024, the agency received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The cyber tip indicated that the user of a Gmail account had uploaded a photo depicting a “nude female toddler.”

During an ensuing investigation, MCSO detectives determined that McMasters was the owner of the Gmail account in question, and they made contact with him at his residence located in the 9600 block of SW 30th Terrace in Ocala. McMasters was residing in a camper trailer on the property.

When the detectives questioned McMasters about the child sexual abuse material that had prompted the cyber tip, he claimed that “his phone was lost.” He then refused to answer any further questions, and he was heard “rummaging around” inside the camper, according to the report.

McMasters was detained by detectives while a search warrant was quickly obtained for the camper. During the execution of that search, detectives seized several electronic devices, including a tablet belonging to McMasters.

The report states that a forensic examination of the tablet was conducted, and numerous videos and pictures were found on the device that depicted the sexual abuse of young children, including toddlers.

This case was investigated by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and it was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Samantha Wahba and Drew Brandies.
