A 28-year-old Ocala man accused of stealing aluminum ramps from a local auto shop has been arrested after he allegedly tried selling the ramps on Facebook Marketplace.
On Tuesday, January 20, a manager at Burynzz Classic Cars (1 Aspen Road in Ocala) contacted the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to report that multiple sets of trailer ramps had been stolen from the business. The manager advised that the thefts began in late November of 2025, but the store did not initially report it to law enforcement because employees at the location would often borrow the ramps, according to the arrest report.
When the manager searched on Facebook Marketplace, similar ramps were allegedly listed for sale by a man identified as Nicholas Shayne Metcalfe. The report stated that one of his relatives, who lived nearby in Silver Springs Shores, also had listed “the same ramps for sale” on Facebook Marketplace.
A few weeks later, at around 7:15 p.m. on Friday, February 13, a male suspect was captured on video surveillance footage entering Burynzz Classic Cars and stealing a set of aluminum ramps valued at $500, according to the report.
An MCSO corporal noted that the suspect was wearing a black hoodie with a visible logo on the front and rear. In a photograph posted on Facebook, Metcalfe was allegedly observed wearing the same hoodie, which led to investigators identifying Metcalfe as the suspect in this case.
According to the report, a Burynzz Classic Cars employee searched Facebook Marketplace and “located what appeared to be the stolen ramps.” The employee messaged Metcalfe, who allegedly responded by stating that he “just obtained some aluminum ramps.”
The employee traveled to Metcalfe’s home on Sunday, February 15, though the report stated that Metcalfe “tried to sell (the employee) homemade ramps” that were “rusty and old.” The employee clarified that they were looking for “specific ramps” and described the ones that had been stolen from the auto shop.
Metcalfe allegedly informed the employee that he “had a set of aluminum ramps for sale,” and the employee returned to Metcalfe’s residence at around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 16. Upon closer inspection of those ramps, the employee observed unique identifying marks that confirmed the ramps belonged to the auto shop, according to the report.
The employee notified the manager, who returned to the auto shop and discovered that another set of aluminum ramps had been stolen. A review of the shop’s video surveillance footage showed that at around 7 p.m. on Monday, February 16, a “shadowy figure” entered the area where the ramps had been stored.
MCSO deputies responded to Metcalfe’s home and observed “a set of aluminum ramps” that had “identifying marks.” After being advised of his Miranda rights, Metcalfe allegedly claimed that an employee at the auto shop had given him permission to take the ramps on February 16.
When Metcalfe was shown video footage of the separate theft incident that had occurred on February 13, he denied involvement. However, the report said that a second set of stolen aluminum ramps was allegedly found in the garage of Metcalfe’s residence, and the ramps had “the same identifying markers.”
Metcalfe was placed under arrest and booked into Marion County Jail, where he remains in custody. His bond has been set at $4,000, and he is facing the following charges: two counts of petit theft (over $100 but less than $750), two counts of trespassing, and one count of dealing in stolen property.
A court date for Metcalfe has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
