A 34-year-old man was arrested on burglary and drug-related charges after deputies reportedly caught him living inside a woman’s Silver Springs cabin.
On Monday, a female victim reported that her cabin located on NE 171st Court had been burglarized. She stated that multiple items were missing from the residence, including two metal window frames, a set of metal doorknobs, and a mattress set, according to the arrest report.
Several MCSO deputies responded to the incident location and observed multiple structures on the property that were “unsecured” with “open and damaged” doors. The report further stated that windows were missing, and a section of the roof from one of the structures had collapsed.
When the deputies searched the interior of the cabin, they reportedly observed a man – later identified as David Allen Tinnin, Jr. – who was “walking inside and directly in front of a closet.”
Multiple items were found in the closet, including clothing, several pieces of aluminum foil containing a burnt white residue, a pen with the same residue, multiple straws, two glass pipes containing a white powdery residue, and a used needle, according to the report.
One of the deputies conducted a field test on the above residue, which reportedly yielded a positive result for methamphetamine.
After being advised of his Miranda rights, Tinnin allegedly claimed that a “friend” had allowed him to reside at the victim’s cabin. However, the report stated that Tinnin later admitted that he was “not allowed to be inside” of the victim’s cabin.
During the post-Miranda interview, Tinnin also reportedly stated that he had been “residing in the closet,” and the items found in the closet “belong(ed) to him.”
Tinnin was placed under arrest and booked into Marion County Jail, where he remains in custody. His bond has been set at $3,500, and he is facing the following charges: unarmed burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jail records show that Tinnin is scheduled to appear in a Marion County courtroom at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
Back in January 2025, Tinnin was found guilty of burglary and drug paraphernalia possession charges in connection with a separate case, according to Marion County Court records.
