Friends and family are grieving the loss of Melissa Marcuccio, a 43-year-old Silver Springs grandmother who was tragically killed in a head-on collision on State Road 40 on Wednesday.
In the wake of the tragic accident, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist Marcuccio’s family with funeral expenses and cost-of-living adjustments.
Marcuccio was involved in the fatal accident at approximately 1:57 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, near the intersection of State Road 40 and State Road 326.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a sedan traveling westbound failed to negotiate a curve and crossed the centerline, striking Marcuccio’s SUV head-on.
Both Marcuccio and the driver of the sedan were killed in the crash.
Marcuccio is being remembered by loved ones as the heart of her family, a devoted mother, grandmother, partner, and friend.
Marcuccio’s partner, Kyle, is a long-time employee of Tri-State Distributors in Ocala, where he is considered part of the company family.
The business and local community members are now working to provide a financial safety net for the family as they navigate the loss of a woman described as meaning so much to so many.
