A 51-year-old Silver Springs man has been sentenced to a decade in federal prison after he attempted to meet a young teenager for sex last summer.
United States District Judge Thomas P. Barber sentenced Jason Shane Ejmali to 10 years in federal prison, which will be followed by 20 years of supervised release, for the attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity.
United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the sentencing this week, concluding a case that saw Ejmali plead guilty to the federal charge on November 19, 2025.
According to court documents and the plea agreement, the charges stem from an online interaction that occurred between July 24 and July 26, 2025.
During that time, Ejmali exchanged messages with an individual who he believed was willing to provide their 13- to 14-year-old foster child to him to engage in sexual activity.
The individual communicating with Ejmali was actually an undercover special agent with Homeland Security Investigations.
Unaware of the sting operation, Ejmali openly discussed the specific types of sexual acts he wanted to perform with the child and ultimately agreed to travel to a designated location in Marion County to meet the minor for that purpose.
Ejmali has remained in custody at the Marion County Jail since his arrest awaiting his sentencing hearing.
