A convicted felon from Marion County was arrested after he allegedly entered a neighbor’s garage while wielding a firearm and later resisted deputies who attempted to arrest him.
On Thursday, May 28, Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on Fisher Run Trace in Ocklawaha in reference to an armed trespasser.
According to the arrest report, the homeowners stated that a neighbor, identified as 22-year-old Josiah Da’Vae Rambo, entered their garage and began acting bizarrely. The victims claimed that Rambo was armed with a laser-pointed firearm, and he allegedly began talking about their all-terrain vehicle.
Rambo reportedly returned to his own residence before law enforcement arrived. Deputies attempted to instruct Rambo to exit his home, but he refused.
A criminal history search of Rambo revealed that he was a convicted felon, according to the report.
After deputies cleared the area, they received a second call indicating that Rambo had returned to the neighbor’s property.
When deputies arrived at the incident location a second time, they observed Rambo walking between the two yards. The report stated that Rambo ignored verbal commands to stop and began reaching into his left pocket, which appeared to be weighed down.
As deputies attempted to detain Rambo, he allegedly “started to resist by tensing up.” Moments later, the deputies placed Rambo on the ground, and he reportedly tried reaching into his left pocket.
During an ensuing struggle, a deputy deployed a Taser, but it appeared to have no effect on Rambo. A sergeant was ultimately able to disarm Rambo, removing a loaded .45 caliber Glock handgun from his left pocket, according to the report.
After being advised of his Miranda rights, Rambo was asked about the recovered gun, and he allegedly responded by stating that “everybody has weapons.” An MCSO corporal noted in the report that Rambo refused to answer any further questions about the incident.
Rambo was placed under arrest and booked into the Marion County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond. He is facing the following charges: possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted Florida felon, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer without violence, and loitering or prowling.
A court date for Rambo has not yet been scheduled, according to jail records.
