A new memorial honoring children and families impacted by childhood cancer was just dedicated at the library headquarters in Ocala.
Community members gathered at the Marion County Public Library Headquarters last week to formally dedicate the new Childhood Cancer Awareness Memorial.
During the dedication ceremony, Marion County Commissioner Kathy Bryant highlighted the deeper purpose behind the new space.

“This memorial stands as a symbol of courage, faith, love, and hope for a cure,” Bryant stated during the event.
According to officials, the memorial is designed to honor the profound resilience of children and families navigating cancer diagnoses every day, while serving as a poignant reminder of the community’s collective support behind them.
During the ceremony, the Peltz family was invited to personally dedicate and unveil the memorial, which was created in loving honor of Kaitlin Peltz. Kaitlin lost her battle with osteosarcoma on Christmas Day in 2021.
Officials note that Kaitlin’s legacy continues to inspire hope and awareness throughout the local community.

The public is invited to visit the new memorial at the library headquarters to reflect on Kaitlin’s story and honor the strength of all families impacted by childhood cancer.
