The United States Navy will continue testing live and inert bombing exercises within the Ocala National Forest on four separate days this week.
The U.S. Navy has scheduled four consecutive days of training exercises at the Pinecastle Range Complex in the Ocala National Forest
According to a press release from Naval Air Station Jacksonville, the Navy has scheduled bombing exercises to take place in the Pinecastle Range Complex within the Ocala National Forest on the following four dates and times:
- Monday, June 8: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Live/Inert)
- Tuesday, June 9: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Live/Inert)
- Wednesday, June 10: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Live/Inert)
- Thursday, June 11: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Live/Inert)
Military officials warn that wildlife may be temporarily displaced during these bombing periods. Drivers are urged to use extra caution when traveling through the Ocala National Forest and its surrounding areas.
Additionally, nearby residents should secure any items around their homes that could attract displaced wildlife. Officials advise everyone to remain mindful of larger animals, including black bears, and to practice BearWise safety measures.
