Jo Ann Goebel, 86, of Fanning Springs, FL, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026 in Ocala, FL.
Jo Ann was born in Eastland, TN to William and Lou Hazel Smith on May 8, 1940. She went to Pleasant Hill High (TN) for three years and graduated in 1958 from Akron (OH) Kenmore High. She married husband, Paul Goebel, in 1963 and they moved to Dunnellon, FL in 1972 where they operated a successful gas station before opening Goebel’s Used Cars in Ocala in 1972, which they ran alongside their son David until 2022.
Jo Ann is survived by her son and daughter-in-law David and Susan Goebel, grandchildren Hayden Lanham, Kristin and her husband Cole Harrell, and Sarah and her husband Wayne Bodden; along with her pride and joys her great-grandchildren Rodney Bodden and Remi Jo Bodden. Jo Ann is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Ohio, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Texas. She was and always will be loved by many.
Jo Ann is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Goebel, parents William and Lou Hazel Smith of Pleasant Hill, TN, sisters Edwina, Barbara, and Mary and brothers William, Jerl and Pat all of TN.
