A 19-year-old man was arrested after investigators say he stole hundreds of dollars’ worth of merchandise, including dozens of Pokemon card packs, while working at an Ocala Walmart.

On Tuesday, June 16, Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Walmart located at 34 Bahia Avenue in Ocala to investigate an ongoing fraud case involving an employee, identified as Steven Richmond Bambico Olay, according to the arrest report.

Between the dates of Thursday, May 28 and Saturday, June 6, Olay was reportedly captured on video surveillance footage conducting “11 different fraudulent transactions at the store.”

During these transactions, Olay allegedly under-rung items at the self-checkout registers before leaving the store with the unpaid merchandise. The store informed MCSO that the total value of the stolen items was $464.16.

While Olay allegedly acted alone during seven of the thefts, investigators believe that he was aided by another individual during the other four transactions.

According to the report, the stolen merchandise included over 40 packs of Pokemon cards, miscellaneous food items, multiple cat products, motor oil, and candles.

An MCSO deputy noted that Olay was an employee at the store “until the point of this incident,” which resulted in his termination.

Olay was placed under arrest and transported to Marion County Jail. His bond has been set at $2,500 and he is being charged with fraudulently obtaining property (under $20,000).

A court date for Olay has not yet been scheduled, according to jail records.
