“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights…” — James 1:17 (KJV)

Cedrick Renard Godwin was born on May 4, 1982, to the late Henry Lee Godwin Sr. and Pinellas Godwin. As the baby boy of the family, he brought joy, laughter, and creativity to the lives of many. He attended Marion County Public Schools and proudly graduated from North Marion High School as a member of the Class of 2000.

Following graduation, Cedrick proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably for seven years. His commitment to service continued through his employment with the Florida Department of Corrections.

From an early age, music held a special place in Cedrick’s life. As a talented drummer, he served in the music ministries of New Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and Faith Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, where his passion for music was evident to all who heard him play. Music was not just something Cedrick enjoyed. It was a part of who he was.

Like his late father, Henry Lee Godwin Sr., Cedrick possessed a natural gift for poetry. He cultivated that gift into music, lyrics, and rap, using words to express himself in a way that was uniquely his own. Whether written or spoken, his words came naturally, and his love for music and writing was evident to anyone who knew him.

Cedrick will be remembered for his love of family, his loyalty to friends, and the joy he brought to those around him. He cherished time spent with loved ones and especially enjoyed gathering around one of his favorite meals, hot fried fish and grits.

Cedrick leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Mrs. Pinellas Godwin; his brother, Mr. Orian Godwin (Shirelle); and a host of devoted aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Lee Godwin Sr., and his brothers, Dwayne Godwin and Henry Lee Godwin Jr.

Though the drums are quiet and the pen has been laid to rest, the story of Cedrick’s life continues to be told through every life he touched, every memory he created, and every heart that was blessed by his presence.
