In Loving Memory of Sylvia “June” Pounders

Sylvia “June” Pounders, age 86, of Salt Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, just two days before her 87th birthday.

June was born on June 25, 1939, in Miami, Florida, to Bryant Albert “Crackerjack” and Noreen Clifford. She spent her life creating memories with family and friends, and was known for her strength, humor, and unforgettable storytelling.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Pounders; her cherished daughter, Tina Varner Hartmann; and her 11 brothers and sisters.

June leaves behind her loving children: William Varner (Maria), Johnny Brett Varner (Sandy), Kimberly Youhas (Mike), Joseph Varner (Betty), Wesley Varner (Caroline), and Shawn Martin (Leondra).

She was a proud grandmother to Monica Lashinsky, William Varner Jr., Amber Varner, Austin Varner, Megan Eures, Johnny Jake Varner, Elaina Varner, Courtney Campbell, Zoe Everett, Trey Everett, Morgan Daughtry, Brice Jessup, Avery Youhas, Derek Youhas, Amanda Youhas, Matthew Varner, Jonathan Varner, Joey Varner, Isaiah Martin, and Braiden Lapo. She was also blessed with 32 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her tremendous joy.

June worked as a bank teller for many years, where she became known for her friendly smile and dedication to serving others. She was a true Florida treasure and one of a kind.

She loved spending time on the water and could out-fish just about any man. She enjoyed her whiskey and water, never went without her favorite lipstick, and had a gift for telling stories that could make anyone laugh. Her warmth, wit, and larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

June’s greatest joy was her family. She loved fiercely, laughed often, and lived life on her own terms. Her legacy lives on through the generations of family she leaves behind and in the countless memories shared by those fortunate enough to know and love her.

In honor of June and the signature lipstick she was rarely seen without, the family invites all who attend her service to bring a tube of lipstick as a final loving tribute to send her off to Heaven in true June fashion.

She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
