A 41-year-old Ocala man was arrested on battery charges after authorities say he attacked his ex-girlfriend and then traveled to his parents’ house, where he allegedly shoved his father into a table.

On Wednesday, June 24, Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an Ocala residence regarding a physical disturbance. A female victim stated that the incident began when her ex-boyfriend, Jose Angel Andrade, turned off the power to her home, according to the arrest report.

The victim told deputies that she went outside to investigate the power outage and found Andrade at the residence. The report mentioned that the victim believed Andrade was attempting to use methamphetamine.

A verbal altercation reportedly ensued when the victim asked Andrade to restore the power. The victim stated that Andrade eventually agreed after she offered him a ride to his parents’ house.

When the victim unlocked the driver’s side door of her vehicle, Andrade allegedly took her keys. When she attempted to retrieve them, Andrade reportedly struck her in the face, shoved her to the ground, and began choking her with both hands, restricting her breathing.

The victim further alleged that Andrade grabbed her by the hair and attempted to pull her away from the car during the altercation.

Deputies noted that the victim had redness on both knees, a small open wound on her right knee, two thin red marks on the left side of her neck consistent with being choked, and a small bruise on her left elbow.

While deputies were still investigating the incident with the ex-girlfriend, they received a call for service regarding a physical disturbance at a residence on SW 143rd Street that belonged to Andrade’s parents.

According to a second arrest report, Andrade arrived at his parents’ home and began banging on the front door. When his father opened the door, Andrade allegedly pushed him into a nearby table, causing several scratch marks on his back.

Deputies arrived at the second location, detained Andrade, and read him his Miranda rights. Andrade refused to discuss either incident with law enforcement, and he was placed under arrest and transported to Marion County Jail, where he remains in custody without bond.

Jail records show that Andrade is being charged with felony battery by strangulation and battery (touch or strike), which is a misdemeanor.

A court date for Andrade has not yet been scheduled.
