Alice Joy Edwards, 95, of Ocala, Florida, peacefully passed away on July 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on October 14, 1930, in Memphis, Tennessee, Alice lived a life defined by grace, quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to those she loved. She spent her childhood in Greenwood, Mississippi, before eventually making her home in Clinton, Mississippi, where she and her beloved husband, Homer D. “Sonny” Edwards, raised their three daughters. Following Sonny’s retirement, the couple relocated to Ocala, Florida, where they enjoyed being close to their daughters, grandchildren, and the family they cherished above all else.
Alice found her greatest joy in her family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, treasured grandmother, and proud great-grandmother whose kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit touched generations. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, where love was freely given and lasting memories were made.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Cheryl Betssayad (Victor), Carole Darsey (Steve), and Dee Beck; her grandchildren, Jason Betssayad, Jonathon Betssayad, Amanda Tuck (Will), Colby Crile (Connor), Eric Darsey (Melissa), and David Darsey; and her seven beloved great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy.
Alice was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Homer D. “Sonny” Edwards; her parents, George and Annabelle Paris; her brothers, George Paris and Jimmy Paris; and her sister, JoAnn Stevenson.
Alice’s legacy is one of enduring love, compassion, and faithfulness. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, her quiet resilience, and the unconditional love she shared with her family and friends. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
