David H. Acred, 78, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Born on April 29, 1948, in Bells, Tennessee, David was the beloved son of David E. and Doris Acred. At the age of four, his family moved to McHenry, Illinois, where he was raised and developed the values of hard work, integrity, and dedication that would define his life.

David proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970. His military service reflected the courage, discipline, and patriotism that remained with him throughout his life.

Following his honorable service, David built a successful career as a Union Carpenter with Chicago Local 250 before spending 25 years in construction with Walgreens, where he was respected for his craftsmanship, reliability, and unwavering work ethic.

On December 5, 2017, David married the love of his life, Patricia Beck. Together they built a wonderful life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures, eventually making their home in Ocala, Florida.

David loved the outdoors and never passed up an opportunity to enjoy nature. He was an avid hunter who looked forward to snowmobiling and riding side-by-side trails through Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing and treasured vacations in the Caribbean with family and friends. Whether spending time outdoors or making memories with loved ones, David appreciated life’s simple pleasures.

More than anything, David will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father, loving brother, and loyal friend. His quiet strength, generous heart, and dependable nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Beck of Ocala, Florida; his children, Jennifer Acred of Crystal Lake, Illinois, and Scott Acred of McHenry, Illinois; his sisters, Ginger Sellek of Johnsburg, Illinois, and Janice Druml and her husband, Denny, of Illinois. He is also survived by his nephews David, Daniel, and Daryl Sellek, and by his niece Michelle Oberlin and nephews Jay Druml and Jeff Druml, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David E. and Doris Acred, and his brother-in-law, David Sellek.

David’s life was one of service, hard work, adventure, and love for his family. Though he has laid down his tools, the legacy of his hard work, service, and love for his family will endure for generations to come.
