FHP troopers rescue Lyft driver threatened by male passenger in Orlando

A female Lyft driver in fear for her life, flagged down Florida Highway Patrol troopers early Tuesday morning after a male passenger had allegedly threatened her in Orlando.

Christopher Tyree Epperson, 20,  had told the driver to take him to several dark locations and had asked her “that if she ever wanted to see her children again, she must take him to a specific location, on Yucatan drive.”

He also attempted to take her cell phone.

The Lyft driver saw an opportunity and pulled into FHP headquarters and flagged down a trooper.

Two other troopers pulled into the parking lot and one of them noticed a bulge in his pocket that looked like a gun. When Epperson was asked what was in his pocket, he attempted to run. The troopers secured Epperson and located a 9mm handgun, bullets, duct tape and a glove in his pockets.

Epperson was arrested on charges of false imprisonment and possession of a concealed weapon.

He was booked into the Orange County jail on $5,150 bond

Troopers want to know if anyone else has come in contact with Epperson, in this type of situation.  If anyone has, they can contact FHP at (407) 737-2213.
