Lake County Sheriff’s Office detectives on Wednesday announced new charges for an alleged attempted rapist.

Robert Jamell Pascual, 22, is facing charges that stemmed from an investigation that began last summer regarding allegations that Pascual inappropriately touched a juvenile relative in Mount Dora, according to an LCSO press release. The 11-year-old victim reported that Pascual approached her as she was lying in bed, covered her mouth and began touching her before attempting to take her outside, the press release stated.

According to the officials, Pascual relocated to Clermont from Mount Dora following the incident.

Pascual was previously accused of violently attacking a Clermont woman, attempting to rape her in the parking lot of her apartment complex. Detectives charged him with attempted sexual battery in Orange County last week, where he was undergoing treatment for stab wounds suffered when the victim fought back. He was also charged with burglary to an occupied conveyance with battery and false imprisonment.

He is also facing an added charge of lewd or lascivious molestation on a minor as of Wednesday. Due to Pascual’s and the victim’s ages, the new charge could mean a lifetime felony.

Pascual is set for arraignment March 6. Bond is set at $215,000.
