Driver allegedly high on marijuana arrested in crash that killed bicyclist

A driver was charged with being high on marijuana in a crash that killed a bicyclist Sunday evening in Pasco County.

Ali Hazime, 25, of Holiday was driving a 2007 Ford Explorer southbound on U.S.19 in the center lane approaching the intersection of Hudson Avenue, while 49-year-old Grady Miles of St.Petersburg was riding a bicycle east across U.S. 19 north of Hudson Avenue in the southbound center lane, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Miles traveled into the path of Hazime’s vehicle, resulting in a collision between the front of Miles’ bicycle and Hazime’s vehicle, the report stated.

Miles died at the scene of the accident. Hazime was later arrested by FHP troopers for driving under the influence of marijuana.
