Groceries stolen from pickup truck parked at Wal-Mart in Ocala

A car was burglarized Tuesday evening at a Wal-Mart in Ocala.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to the Wal-Mart located on 9570 SW Hwy. 200 in reference to a vehicle burglary, according to an MCSO incident report. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the victim who advised that his 2005 Silver Ford Ranger had been broken into and grocery items had been taken, the report stated. The victim stated that his wife had gone shopping at Wal-Mart for groceries around 5 p.m., then drove the vehicle home to unload groceries. The victim stated that his wife then realized the passenger side door lock had been broken and some items were missing. The couple then came back to the store and reported the burglary, the report stated.

The deputy made contact with the wife, who advised she had been shopping and placed her items she bought in the front seat of her vehicle, according to the report. She advised she went back inside the store to buy cold items and when she returned to her vehicle, she noticed that the passenger door was unlocked, but then drove the vehicle home. As she was unloading the groceries, she realized the lock on her passenger side of the vehicle had been broken and that some of her purchased items were missing after looking through her groceries. A total of $64.26 worth of groceries were stolen.
