An Ocala man was arrested and charged with three counts of simple battery and resisting arrest without violence Thursday night.
Anthony J. Hendry was taken into custody at Walmart on Highway 200 after Marion County deputies responded to a call of a suspicious person harassing customers. When confronted, Hendry, 25, fled on foot before being apprehended a short time later. The report states that Hendry had to “physically” be put inside a patrol car after refusing to comply with a deputy’s instructions.
According to the report, three victims identified Hendry was the man who approached them at Walmart. One said that Hendry put personal lubricant and condoms in her shopping cart before placing his hand on her buttocks and leg, the report says. The victim added that she pushed Hendry away.
A second victim said Hendry asked her to “hang out” in the back of the store with him and to touch her leg, deputies said. When she said “no,” the victim said Hendry started rubbing her leg before she walked away.
A third victim claimed that Hendry approached her at the checkout area and asked her on a date. She added that Hendry asked her for a ride and then followed her to her vehicle. While she was putting her groceries in the trunk, the victim said, Hendry grabbed her buttocks and leg.
Hendry was booked into the Marion County Jail on $4,000 bond.
