A pilot made an emergency landing at about noon Thursday on Interstate 75 in Alachua County.
The Florida Highway Patrol was notified at 11:55 a.m. that a single engine aircraft needed to make an unscheduled landing. At 12:03 p.m. the first FHP Trooper arrived at the location at which the plane had already landed.
The plane landed in the outside lane on the northbound side of I-75, approximately 1/2 mile south of the Paynes Prairie Rest Area.
The two occupants of the plane escaped injury. Two of the northbound lanes were closed until the plane was towed off of the roadway to a grass median at the rest area, at approximately 2:15 p.m.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
