It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Craig Smith, ‘Craig,’ announces his passing on July 4, 2018 with his beloved wife, Joan ‘Joni’ Smith of 44 years by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Wilma.
Craig was born on June 9, 1947 and grew up in Pekin, IL with his brother, Jim (wife, Jean) of Lansing, MI. He attended and loved Michigan State University, receiving an Economics and Math degree and later his MBA, then he was an executive manager in the automotive industry. Craig was happy-go-lucky, fun, loving and bright.
In Rochester Hills, MI, he and his wife lovingly raised their children, Matthew (Courtney), and Kari (Eric) Robbins, and later his grandchildren, Mason Smith (9), Brennan Robbins (8), Cole Smith (6), Jane Robbins (5), Riley Smith (3), Reese Robbins (2), and Cate Robbins (9 months). Craig loved to travel, he was in the Peace Corps, and he visited every state. He retired to Ocala, FL.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 1-3 pm at Stone Creek Grille. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 8180 Greensboro Dr., Suite 400, McLean, VA 22102.
