A 35-year-old woman held on child neglect charges died after hanging herself at the Lake County Jail.
Tiffany Michelle Allen of Clermont had been arrested Wednesday and booked on $6,000 bond. In addition to child neglect charges, she was also charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Her was body was discovered at 11:32 a.m. Saturday after an inmate notified a detention deputy working in a housing unit that a female inmate had hung herself in a cell.
Nursing and Detention staff responded, performed CPR and utilized an Automated Eternal Defibrillator in an attempt to resuscitate the inmate. EMS arrived at 11:38 a.m. and continued lifesaving measures, however Allen was pronounced dead.
