DeSantis surges to double-digit lead over gubernatorial opponent Putnam

GOP candidate for governor Ron DeSantis has surged to a double-digit lead over gubernatorial opponent Adam Putnam.

DeSantis, who will appear Monday night at an event in The Villages, leads the agriculture commissioner 41 percent to 29 percent just about a month before the primary election.
DeSantis has been riding high thanks to the endorsement of President Trump. DeSantis appeared with then-vice presidential hopeful Mike Pence in a campaign rally in The Villages.
Meanwhile on the Democratic side, the daughter of a former Florida governor has seized the lead, according to the new poll.

U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham garnered 27 percent in the poll while Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine picked up 18 percent. Former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum came in at 10 percent with Winter Park businessman Chris King locking up 7 percent. A quarter of Democratic primary voters are undecided.

Former Gov. Bob Graham recently campaigned in The Villages on behalf of his daughter.
