A Summerfield man was arrested Monday afternoon after a woman reported that he spit tobacco juice on her.
When a Marion County sheriff’s deputy arrived at a home on SE 62nd Court, 31-year-old Richard Eugene Tillander-Haynes told them that he was having an argument with a woman that was “verbal only and there was no physical fighting,” a sheriff’s office report states.
But when the deputy spoke with the woman, she claimed that Tillander-Haynes spit tobacco juice on her face and arms. The deputy noted that he saw the liquid on the woman’s face and arms, as well as on the bed and floor in the room where the argument occurred, the report says.
After observing Tillander-Haynes with tobacco in his mouth and a can of it in his pocket, the deputy took him into custody and transported him to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with battery. And after arriving at the facility, five other petit theft charges were added.
Tillander-Haynes was released on $3,000 bond early Wednesday morning and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 21 to answer to the battery charge.
Tillander-Haynes, who works as a builder for Florida Metal Building Service, has been in the Marion County Jail three times since August 2014 under his current last name and three other times from February to December 2011 under the last name of Haynes. His past charges have included a warrant for no driver’s license, attached unassigned license tag and driving with a suspended or revoked license; battery (dating violence); driving under the influence; violating probation on a DUI; battery; and violation of an injunction to come within 500 feet of a petitioner’s school, residence or place of employment.
