Report of enraged grandfather at school bus stop draws attention of deputy

An Ocala school resource officer on Wednesday investigated possible threats being made against students at a bus stop.

The resource officer, who is a Marion County sheriff’s deputy assigned to Legacy Elementary School, said he received information about the issue from the Safe School Department, which was reported by a student at the school, located at 8496 Juniper Rd.

The deputy was told that a man reportedly had made the threats Tuesday morning at a bus stop on Cedar Road at about 7 a.m. The deputy then made contact with the student, who said the man “yells and curses” at her and the other students at the bus stop because they cut in front of his grandchildren in the bus line, a sheriff’s office report states.

The deputy tried to contact the student’s mother but the number listed wasn’t working. He also attempted to reach the man accused of making the threats but was able to make contact. He requested that a patrol deputy follow up with the man to gather additional information, the report says.
