A Marion County sheriff’s deputy received a call for help from an Ocala Wal-Mart this past Thursday night.
When the deputy arrived, a loss prevention officer told him that he had watched 24-year-old Karyn Ashley Osman enter the store, located at 34 Bahia Ave., and select numerous items from the shelves and put them in her shopping cart.
He said Osman, who lives at 9656 NE 30th Ave., then went to the customer service desk to return those same items with a receipt from a different purchase. When Osman was unable to make the return, she then walked out the front door of the store without paying for the items, valued at $87.14, a sheriff’s office report says.
When the deputy made contact with Osman, she admitted to attempting to make a return for items she didn’t purchase. She said when she wasn’t given a receipt, she just walked out of the store without paying for the items, the report says.
Osman was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with a multitude of crimes. Those include larceny/petit theft and two warrant violations on prior petit theft charges. Osman also must appear before a judge on four probation violations for no motor vehicle registration, petit theft ($100-$300) and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. She is due in court Jan. 29, Feb. 6 and Feb. 7 to answer to the seven charges.
