Homeless man jailed on trespassing charge for squatting behind Ocala gas station

Timothy Vernon Walker

A homeless man with a lengthy criminal history was charged with trespassing Friday after he and his wife were found sleeping in a tent behind the Diamond Oil gas station on SE Lake Weir Avenue in Ocala.

Timothy Vernon Walker, 61, was issued a trespass warning at the location on Jan. 21. Walker signed the warning indicating he understood he would be placed under arrest if he returned. The location is a known transient camp, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office has an ongoing trespass authorization with the owner.

Walker’s wife, Michelle Cecile Walker, 63, was given her first trespass warning, a sheriff’s office report states.

Timothy Walker has been arrested eight times since 2013, most recently for battery in August 2018. He’s being held in the Marion County Jail on $500 bond. He’s due to appear in Marion County Court on Feb. 27.
