Habitual offender back behind bars for driving with suspended license

Mauricio Gonzalez,

An Ocala man with a history of arrests for driving without a license was caught behind the wheel again on Tuesday.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy stopped a white GMC utility SUV for failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign before turning from Northwest 111th Court onto Northwest 10th Place. The driver, Mauricio Gonzalez, 46, of 1726 NW 119th Court, told the deputy his license was suspended, a sheriff’s office report states.

A records search confirmed that Gonzalez’s license was suspended in June 2018. Marion County Jail records show he was arrested twice in 2017 for driving with a suspended license.

Gonzalez was charged with a moving violation while driving while licensed suspended, being a habitual offender and two probation violations. He’s being held on $2,000 bond and has a date in Marion County Court on March 26.
