Cocaine in purse lands Coral Springs woman behind bars following traffic stop

Francesca Johanna Keijzer

A Coral Springs woman who rolled through a stop sign in Dunnellon was arrested on drug charges Wednesday after Marion County sheriff’s deputies found cocaine and drug paraphernalia in her purse during a traffic stop.

A deputy observed a black Toyota Corolla running a stop sign at SW 28th Street and SW 189th Avenue without regard for cross traffic and conducted a traffic stop along the 18900 block of SW 31st Street.

The driver, 31-year-old Francesca Johanna Keijzer, told the deputy she didn’t have her driver’s license in her possession but did have one issued to her. But a records search showed it was suspended indefinitely in November 2017 for failure to pay traffic fines, a sheriff’s office report states.

Keijzer said her permanent residence is in Coral Springs and she doesn’t have ties to Marion County. She was placed under arrest and put in the back of a patrol car.

A K-9 deputy arrived on the scene to conduct an open-air sniff of Keijzer’s vehicle, and his K-9 partner alerted him to the back seat. The ensuing search turned up a gold purse containing a zippered pouch that held approximately six syringes and needles, one of which contained a clear liquid that field tested positive for cocaine. When asked who the purse belonged to, Keijzer said it was hers and that the needles belong to her because she has a drug problem, the report says.

Keijzer was issued a warning for running the stop sign and a criminal citation for knowingly driving while her license was suspended. She also was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia and taken to the Marion County Jail.

When she arrived at the jail, corrections staff found a secret compartment cut into the bottom of Keijzer’s purse, where they found a white plastic case containing two glass pipes with a white residue that tested positive for cocaine. Keijzer received an additional charge of smuggling contraband into a detention facility, the report says.

Keijzer is being held on $6,000 bond and her next appearance in Marion County Court is set for April 9.
