40-year-old Ocala man arrested after brawl with his aunt in flower bed

Traikin Vondell Allen

An Ocala man with numerous previous arrests for battery is accused of breaking a drinking glass on his aunt’s head and then brawling with her in a flower bed.

Traikin Vondell Allen, 40, of 5841 NW 4th St., was charged with aggravated domestic battery with a deadly weapon. His aunt was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center with severe head injuries after the incident, which happened shortly after midnight Sunday at her home.

The Ocala Police officer who responded to the battery report encountered Allen sitting on the ground in the front yard. He appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and had several cuts on his right arm and left thumb and index finger, according to the police report.

Allen told the officer he was involved in an argument with the victim after she told him to leave the residence. He said he was sitting on the front porch, drinking a glass cup of water, when the victim approached him and got in his face. Allen said the victim took a swing at him but missed, and he struck her head with the cup, causing it to break, the report said.

Allen said the victim went inside, grabbed a kitchen knife and came back outside. He said he and the victim wrestled each other for possession of the knife on the front porch and eventually fell into the flower bed. Allen said he sat on top of the victim to keep her down until he could separate himself from her, according to the report.

When asked how he received the cuts on his arm and fingers, Allen said he didn’t know. He said he doesn’t live at the location but visits from time to time. Once he was advised of his Miranda rights, he declined to say anything else about the incident, the report said.

The officer observed blood on the front steps and the front porch wall and floor. A kitchen knife was found in the flower bed and broken glass was observed on the porch. The officer also saw drops of blood that trailed from the front porch to the kitchen, and a plastic container filled with kitchen knives and other utensils, according to the report.

The owner of the home said he was inside his bedroom and that he didn’t see the incident, but he heard the victim asking Allen to leave multiple times. He said the victim, who was covered in blood, knocked on his bedroom door and asked him to call 911, the report said.

The victim told police she asked Allen multiple times to leave the residence and told him she would get a restraining order against him. She said she was standing on the front porch when Allen became upset and struck her on the head with what appeared to be a glass. The victim said she couldn’t remember how the kitchen knife was involved in the incident, according to the report.

Marion County Jail records show Allen was previously charged with simple domestic battery (2017), aggravated domestic assault with a weapon (2010), simple battery (March 2019), and aggravated battery (2017). He’s being held on $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Sept. 10.
