Swerving, curb-hopping 26-year-old Ocala woman jailed on DUI charge

Deannea Melissa Green

A woman found herself behind bars early Sunday morning after an Ocala Police officer saw her vehicle swerve, drift across lanes, drive over a curb and fail to stop for a red light.

The officer stopped 26-year-old Deannea Melissa Green on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and reported smelling the odor of alcoholic beverage when speaking with her. Green, of Ocala, said she was coming from “the club” and had had “2-3 cups” to drink, an Ocala Police report states.

Green agreed to participate in field sobriety tests and was unsteady exiting the vehicle and swaying. She failed all three tests and was taken into custody. She then provided breath samples registering .114 and .106 blood alcohol content, the report says.

The officer found a plastic cup with a blue liquid and ice in a cup holder in the center console of Green’s vehicle. An open bottle of vodka missing some of its contents was located in another cup holder. A check of Green’s license showed that it was restricted for business purposes only, the report says.

Green was transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with driving under the influence and violating driver’s license restrictions. She was released Sunday afternoon on $2,000 bond and her next court date hasn’t yet been set.
