Passenger caught with meth during routine traffic stop

Amanda Jane Bledsoe

An Ocala woman was arrested early Tuesday on a drug charge after the car she was a passenger in was pulled over in a routine traffic stop.

Amanda Jane Bledsoe, 31, of 1926 SW 3rd St., was charged with possession of a controlled substance. She was in the front passenger seat of a red Pontiac that a Marion County sheriff’s deputy observed pulling out of the Queens Gardens Resort parking lot onto South Pine Avenue without stopping, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy checked the male driver’s identification and observed Bledsoe moving excessively and asked for her identification as well. While Bledose was searching her purse, the deputy asked the driver to get out of the car and asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. The driver said there was nothing illegal that belonged to him but Bledsoe might have something in her purse. When asked to elaborate, the driver said she might have some methamphetamine, the report said.

The deputy asked Bledsoe how she was doing and she replied, “Not so good.” When asked why, she admitted to having some drugs in her purse. She said she had a needle filled with MDMA in her wallet, according to the report

When the deputy asked Bledsoe to show her the MDMA, she opened her wallet and exposed an uncapped needle filled with a clear liquid. Bledsoe said she was holding it for a friend and that it didn’t belong to her, the report said.

The clear liquid tested positive for methamphetamine. Bledsoe was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she’s being held on $2,000 bond. She’ll appear in Marion County Jail on Nov. 5.
