Woman who showed false license jailed on drug charge

Virginia Mary Schuchman

An Ocala woman who displayed another woman’s driver’s license was arrested on drug charges after she was pulled over in Dunnellon because her vehicle was emitting too much exhaust.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy stopped Virginia Mary Schuchman, 48, of 16381 SW 58th Lane, at the 9500 block of U.S. Hwy. 41 in Dunnellon. Schuchman handed the deputy a driver’s license with the name Kate O’Connor that had a photo that didn’t appear to match Schuchman, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy asked Schuchman her birth date and she replied, “It’s on my driver’s license.” Schuchman was then asked to provide the last four digits of her social security number, which differed from the number of Kate O’Connor. She later admitted the license was not hers and that she has never had a valid Florida driver’s license, the report said.

A search of Schuchman’s vehicle turned up a vapor pen in her purse. The pen contained a brown oil substance that field tested positive for THC. Schuchman said the purse was hers but she denied any knowledge of the vapor pen being inside it, according to the report.

Schuchman was charged with possession of a controlled substance (THC) without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, and displaying another person’s license. She was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she’s being held on $4,000 bond. She’ll appear in Marion County Court on Nov. 5.
