An Ocala man with nearly a dozen prior arrests is in the Marion County Jail after he reportedly broke into a home and confronted a woman who has a domestic violence injunction against him.
Michael Everette Billings, 41, was charged with violating a domestic violence injunction, aggravated stalking, and unarmed burglary of an occupied dwelling. This was his 12th arrest in Marion County since 1996. Previous charges include robbery, child abuse, aggravated domestic assault with a deadly weapon, petit theft, trespassing, resisting, attempted robbery with a firearm, escape, and multiple injunction violations, according to jail records.
Billings was served a domestic violence injunction on Oct. 8 that said he is to have no contact or communication with the victim. At the time, Billings stated he understood he is to have no contact with the victim via phone calls, text messages and social media, and he’s not to be within 500 feet of the victim.
The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that shortly after 1 a.m. Monday, Billings entered her home through a garage door. Billings was still at the scene when the deputy arrived and was taken into custody, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim said since the injunction was served to Billings, he has continued to contact her using multiple telephone numbers. He also reportedly followed her inside the Wal-Mart shopping center in Dunnellon, where there was an altercation between Billings and the victim that documented by Dunnellon Police. The victim said she has been in fear for her life and that he continues to be a credible threat even after being served the injunction, the report said.
The victim said she has been living with her mother in an attempt to distance herself from Billings. She said Billings used a keypad to enter the home through a garage door, and then came in through another door into the hallway of the home. There were no signs of forced entry, according to the report.
Billings did not make any statements to the deputy after being taken into custody. He’s being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Nov. 19.
