New ‘live-work-play community’ coming to On Top of The World

A new, highly-integrated, “live-work-play” community is coming to On Top of The World (OTOW).

During a recent meeting of the Ocala/Marion Chamber and Economic Partnership, OTOW CEO Ken Colen provided a brief overview of the new community, Calesa Township, which will not be restricted to active adults (i.e., 55+).

“We have entitlements to build 5,000 homes. What we’re trying to create is a live-work-play, highly integrated community,” said Colen.

Colen explained a vision to enable movement throughout the family-friendly community without the use of automobiles, indicating that all of the homes would be in close proximity to walking trails.

“Being able to move about the community on bicycles or by walking with minimal interaction with automobiles. Our homes are designed to front on the walking trails in many instances,” explained Colen. He indicated that sales for homes in the community should start in late 2020 or early 2021.

Colen later went on to praise Shalom Park as a proof of concept for the importance of keeping nature in the community.

“This interaction between nature and ourselves is something we need more of,” he said.
