Belleview man charged with battering his girlfriend and her son

A Belleview man was arrested after he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the arm and neck, then gave her adult son a bloody nose when he came to help her.

Robert J. Talbot, 49, was charged with two counts of domestic battery after the incident, which happened around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday in the front yard of his residence. The male victim told a Belleview Police officer he heard his mother screaming for help and ran outside to help. He said he was Talbot struck him in the nose with a closed fist, causing it to bleed, according to the police report.

The female victim said she picked up Talbot from work and they argued the whole way home. She said they were in the front yard when Talbot grabbed her by the arm and neck. The victim said she screamed for help and her son came out and Talbot started attacking him and punching him in the face, the report said.

Talbot told the officer he didn’t hit anyone and that the male victim started yelling and came at him. Talbot was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Thursday on $3,000 bond. He’ll appear in Marion County Court on Feb. 13.
