Silver Springs woman arrested after fight outside Ocala home

Nicole Christine Leinas

A 30-year-old Silver Springs woman was arrested early Thursday after brawling with another woman in the front yard of an Ocala home.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office report, Nicole Christine Leinas, of 10055 NE 7th Lane in Silver Springs, showed up around 1:45 a.m. at the home on NE 35th Street in Ocala, despite having an injunction against a man who lives there and witnessed the fight. The witness said he told Leinas to leave and slammed the door shut, pushing her away in the process.

The witness said at that point, the victim pulled into the driveway in her vehicle and Leinas approached her and started an argument in the front yard. He said Leinas reached out and started the physical altercation, and both women went to the ground. The witness said he picked up items both women were dropping during the fight, including Leinas’ cell phone, the report said.

The witness said after the women were done fighting, Leinas started chasing him around the property until a deputy arrived to stop the altercation, according to the report.

The victim told the deputy that Leinas was in the front yard when she arrived at the incident location to see the witness. She said Leinas came up to her and they were face-to-face, yelling at each other. The victim said Leinas became irate, grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the ground. She said they wrestled for a moment before she was able to push Leinas off her, the report said.

The witness showed the deputy Facebook messages from Leinas saying she was coming over to his house and the witness telling her no and that he was going to bed. The deputy observed dirt on the victim’s clothing from where she was on the ground, as well as scratch marks on the victim’s chest, neck and arms. The deputy also found some black hair on the ground that appeared to have been pulled from the victim’s head by Leinas, according to the report.

Leinas told the deputy that the witness asked her to come to his house to speak face to face, and she went even though she has an injunction against him. She said when she arrived, the witness pushed her to the ground and kept her from leaving until law enforcement arrived, the report said.

Leinas said she had text messages from the witness asking her to come to the incident location, but he must have deleted them. The deputy observed one scratch mark on the victim’s neck, according to the report.

Due to Leinas having no reason to be at the location and the physical evidence supporting the victim and witness statements, Leinas was charged with simple battery and taken to the Marion County Jail. She was released later in the day on $1,000 bond. No court information was available.
