Umatilla woman arrested after being stopped with drugs in her car

Emma Elizabeth Parker

A 20-year-old Umatilla woman jailed last year on a domestic battery charge was arrested again Monday night after drugs were found in her vehicle during a traffic stop in Summerfield.

Emma Elizabeth Parker, of 17104 Mills St., was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana. Parker was previously arrested in September 2019 after she allegedly accused a man of cheating, slapped him in the face and threw his phone against the wall.

In the latest incident, Marion County sheriff’s deputies were conducting routine traffic patrol in a marked patrol vehicle near the 1400 block of S. U.S. Highway 441 when they observed a white Toyota Corolla driven by Parker heading north without a tag light. A traffic stop was initiated at around the 13700 block of U.S. Highway 441, according to the sheriff’s office report.

As the deputy spoke with Parker, he noticed the smell of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Asked if there was any marijuana inside the car, Parker said there was some on the passenger-side floorboard. She spontaneously said, “all of it is mine,” the report said.

A search of the vehicle turned up a green leafy substance on the passenger-side floorboard that field tested positive for marijuana. The deputy also found a vape pen in the center console that contained a substance tested positive for THC oil, according to the report.

After being read her Miranda warning, Parker admitted that she knew possessing THC oil is a felony. She also recanted her story about all of the drugs being hers, saying the THC oil did not belong to her, the report said.

Parker was extremely cooperative as she was placed under arrest and taken to the Marion County Jail. She was released Tuesday on $3,000 bond. No court information was available.
