A Silver Springs man is in the Marion County Jail on a host of drug charges after being pulled over in Ocala for a broken taillight Monday evening.

Donald Richard Fournier, 23, of 18820 E. S.R. 40, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (MDMA) without a prescription, possession of a controlled substance (Hydrocodone) without a prescription, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, two counts of possession of drug equipment, a single count of driving with a suspended or revoked license, and a probation violation.

A Marion County sheriff’s sergeant traveling south on the 1800 block of North Baseline Road at around 6:30 p.m. observed a white Chevrolet with a broken taillight on the passenger side. The taillight was showing white instead of the required red, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop at NE 7th Street and Baseline Road, and the driver – later identified as Fournier – pulled into a gas station parking lot. Fournier said he did not have a valid license because it was suspended, and a computer check confirmed it was suspended six times, revoked once and canceled once since 2017. Records showed that Fournier has three convictions for knowingly driving with a suspended or revoked license, and he is currently on probation for organized fraud under $20,000, the report said.

Fournier was taken into custody and an inventory search was conducted on the vehicle before it was towed. Under the driver’s seat was a small plastic bag containing a clear crystal rock substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. In the center console was a grey pouch that contained several items, including a plastic bag of a green leafy substance (2.5 grams) that tested positive for marijuana and a plastic bag with 10 pills that tested positive for MDMA, according to the report.

The grey pouch also contained more crystal rock substances that matched the meth that was found under the sea, a glass pipe with residue that tested positive for methamphetamine, and half of a pill that was visually identified through a web search as hydrocodone and tested positive for opioids. The last items in the pouch were several cut straws with residue on them and a debit card with Fournier’s name on it. The card was packaged in the middle of the drugs, the report said.

In the back seat was a black bag containing a crystal substance that did not test positive for methamphetamine, along with a brownish rock-like substance that did test positive for meth. All the methamphetamine in the vehicle weighed a total of 11.8 grams. A digital scale with meth residue on it was also found in the center console, according to the report.

Fournier was told of the additional charges and taken to jail, where he’s being held on $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Dec. 15.
