Ocala woman accused of slapping man and slashing woman’s tire

Danielle Lynn Cattanach

An Ocala woman is accused of slapping a man in the face and slashing a woman’s tire during a nasty breakup last week.

The male victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy on Wednesday that he and 31-year-old Danielle Lynn Cattanach have been having issues the past year and that she became upset and started packing her things. He said when she started placing things in her vehicle, he noticed some of the items belonged to him and he started removing them, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said at that point, Cattanach approached the victim and started striking him in the face with an open hand. The deputy observed the victim had an injury under his right eye and was bleeding, the report said.

The female victim told the deputy she saw Cattanach strike the male victim multiple times in the face before he was able to get away and call law enforcement. She also said prior to the altercation, she saw Cattanach slash the right-rear tire on her Toyota. The male victim said he, too, saw Cattanach damage the female victim’s right-rear tire with a pocketknife, according to the report.

After being read her Miranda warning, Cattanach told the deputy she and the male victim were arguing and she was about to leave. She denied striking him in the face, but she could not explain how he was injured. Cattanach also denied damaging the female victim’s tire, the report said.

Cattanach was charged with simple domestic battery and criminal mischief with property damage between $200 and $1,000. She was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Tuesday on $1,000 bond. Cattanach will answer to the charges in Marion County Court on Feb. 17.
