Marion sheriff seeks help in finding man who has information about homicide involving a child

Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods is asking for the public’s help in locating a wanted man who has information about a homicide involving a child.

Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods is asking for the public’s help in locating 29-year-old Johntavis Coleman, who has a warrant for contempt of court and pertinent information about a homicide involving a child.

Woods, speaking during his regular “Wanted by Woods Wednesday” segment on the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page, asked for assistance in locating 29-year-old Johntavis Coleman, who has a warrant for contempt of court. Woods said Coleman hasn’t shown up for his court dates and has gone into hiding. But more importantly, the sheriff added, Coleman has pertinent information about a homicide involving a child.

“Johntavis, please turn yourself in and also help bring closure to the family who has lost loved ones from this homicide,” Woods said

Anyone with information about Coleman’s whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Marion County at (352) 368-STOP (7867) and reference 21-14 in your tip. If you use Crime Stoppers and your tip leads to an arrest, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
