An Ocala trucker making a U-turn was involved in a fatal crash Friday night in Gilchrist County.
The 60-year-old was at the wheel of the tractor trailer truck at 10:10 p.m. northbound on U.S. Hwy. 129 when he attempted to make a U-turn to travel back southbound on U.S. Hw. 129, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The truck collided with a sport utility vehicle driven by a 61-year-old Lake City woman who had also been northbound on U.S. Hwy. 129 and following behind the tractor trailer truck.
As the truck was making the U-turn, the SUV continued traveling northbound and collided with the left side of the truck’s trailer. The SUV was pinned under the trailer.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
