An Ocala woman was arrested recently after her man friend showed Marion County sheriff’s deputies a video of an altercation between the two.

Deputies initially spoke with 42-year-old Melissa Michelle McKnight, who was “emotional” and claimed multiple times that she did not do anything. She told deputies they should be speaking with her man friend and said nothing occurred between them, a sheriff’s office report states.

Deputies then made contact with the victim, who showed them a video of a verbal altercation between the two. The video showed McKnight walking out the front door of the residence with the victim following behind her. McKnight then turned around, walked toward the victim and pushed him as they were standing in the doorway of the residence, the report says.

The victim claimed that prior to the video being shot, McKnight punched him in the face. Deputies didn’t observe any injuries to the victim, the report says.

After being read her rights, McKnight claimed she “lightly” pushed the victim because “he was in her face.” She also said the victim never touched her during the incident, the report says.

McKnight was then placed under arrest and transported to the Marion Couty Jail, where she was charged with domestic battery. She’s due in court June 15 at 9:30 a.m., jail records show.
