Seafood restaurant taking over shuttered Ruby Tuesday’s location

A new seafood restaurant is taking over the former Ruby Tuesday’s location in Ocala.

Storming Crab, which currently operates over a dozen and a half locations around the United States, will take over for the shuttered business.

Located at 3500 SW College Road, Storming Crab has plans for aggressive expansion throughout the U.S., including the addition of six restaurants. According to the company’s website, the Ocala restaurant is its first and only Florida location.

In addition to Florida, Storming Crab has locations in Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, New York, and Ohio, among other states.

Storming Crab serves crab legs, crab claws, shrimp, oysters, and other types of seafood in a Louisiana Cajun style.

The restaurant replaces Ruby Tuesday’s, which closed the doors nationwide on its locations amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. It joined a long list of businesses that closed their doors during or just before the pandemic.

Cody’s still sits vacant after closing the doors on its S.R. 200 location.

Krystal’s sat vacant until a car wash announced plans to demolish and build a new location on the site.
